Welcome to our section on Herbs.
Herbs have a long history of use in many different forms. Some are taken or placed on the skin as medicine, some are burned, made into oils, or used in baths to release a likable scent, some are used as teas simply to enjoy the taste and some are used in various types of magic.
The shear number of herbs makes it almost impossible for any one person to fully understand the various energies within even a small portion of the herbs that can be found around the world. This is further complicated by the fact that a single herb may be called by multiple names depending on which section of the world you are in. Here in the US, there are differing names for herbs from state to state and still other differing names when that herb is also grown in other parts of the world.
Hopefully in time this section of our site will allow us to help some people weave their way through the wondrous world of herbs and perhaps even share their knowledge with others as time goes on.
There will be a category for each herb name, which of course means some herbs may actually have more than 1 category because of the differing names it goes by around the world. For that reason we will also have a local names page where we will also list any cross referencing we can find to list.
A Word of Warning!
Any time you are thinking about taking an herb internally, whether in a tea, capsule or whatever, make sure you know exactly what herb you have and where it came from. There are many herbs that are highly toxic and they can kill. Do not even begin to think about wild crafting herbs unless you know with 100% certainty what herb you are gathering. You literally could be putting your life in danger to do otherwise. For the vast majority of people, you are much better off purchasing herbs from a reliable source than trying to find them in the wild.
Also, nothing within these pages should be considered to be medical advice. No one here is claiming to be a doctor or to have any sort of medical training that would qualify them to prescribe any type of herb or medication. All data listed here is for historical purposes to show the ways herbs have been used in the past. Keep in mind however, that all ancient knowledge is not good knowledge. At one time they thought they could cure disease by placing leeches on the patients skin, but that in no way makes me want to run out and go hunting for leeches.
